Viking Café is thrilled to announce that we have been awarded a grant that has provided us with two cutting-edge Hydroponic Gardens. This initiative will offer our students hands-on learning opportunities, ensuring access to fresh greens and fostering healthier eating habits. The grant, facilitated by the Idaho Department of Education's Child Nutrition Program (CNP), has allocated $1,500 for each of Valley’s child nutrition gardens. Our goal is to establish an educational program that emphasizes nutrition education, meal planning, and scientific learning. These gardens can be operated indoors year-round, creating a consistent learning environment and providing leafy greens regardless of the weather.

Viking Café has teamed up with Mrs. Meyer and her science class, who have initiated the planting and setup of these two gardens. The class will delve into topics such as plant biology, nutrient cycles, data collection, and growth rates. This program will enhance students' understanding of the origins of their food through this interactive garden experience.
The gardens are equipped with advanced technology, featuring their own lighting, watering systems, and cameras. We invite you to visit the Viking Café commons and see one of these incredible gardens.
